Popfest 2011 compilation

February 21, 2011

It’s Popfest week! To celebrate, here is this year’s Popfest sampler: http://www.mediafire.com/?olka6q266z6a6km. Feel free to download and pass around! Many thanks to all the bands that offered songs for it. Can’t wait to see you all on Thursday.

We have also arranged a mixtape/cd swap for Saturday. Drop your mix in the bag next to merch table at the all-dayer and pick a random one up after Bearsuit’s set.

Final schedule!

February 16, 2011

Dear popfesters, the final schedule is now online. Rejoice! Please click here to see it and don’t forget to visit the venues and info page as well, for maps, addresses and whatever else you might need.

Tickets for Thursday and Sunday are still available (just) so please make your way to the tickets page for more information.

Bands! Films! Popfest’s on its way

February 10, 2011

It’s Popfest month! We are very very excited. The latest band we can announce is Girls Names, who are playing on the Sunday (with 14 Iced Bears, The Notes and Youngfuck), making that early show noisy, delirious and beautiful. Hope you can all make it. If you haven’t got a Popfest pass, there are still some tickets left for the Sunday at £6.50:  http://www.wegottickets.com/f/2189

Four-day Popfest passes are all sold out, sorry.

Also, we are delighted to announce this year’s Friday afternoon films. The venue this time is The Miller, a pub/venue near London Bridge station. Map here. The films are:

The Lucksmiths: Darkening Doorways: a documentary exploring the band’s final months and presents an intimate view of The Lucksmiths in rehearsal, in the recording studio and throughout their farewell tour. (25 mins)

Strange PowersStephin Merritt and The Magnetic Fields: a feature documentary directed by Kerthy Fix and Gail O’Hara which was ten years in the making. It is an intimate documentary portrait of songwriter Stephin Merritt and his band the Magnetic Fields, exploring Merritt’s songwriting and recording process, and focusing on his relationships with his bandmates and longtime manager Claudia Gonson, revealing an artist who has produced one of the most engaging and confounding bodies of work in the contemporary American songbook. (82 mins)

A full Popfest schedule with times and will posted on here very soon. We’ll also announce the dj slots in the next few days. Please keep checking!
