Happy new year, all! We have some lovely news for you. First of all, the popfest is now next month. NEXT MONTH! Also, we have two more bands to announce and my hands are shaking with excitement a little bit.
On Thursday at Cafe Oto, along with Rose Melberg and The Pines, we have *drum roll*… Withered Hand! It’ll be a solo performance by Dan and we are completely overwhelmed he agreed to come all the way down from Edinburgh for this because we love him and we think of him as a little bit God-like. His first album, Good News, which came out on SL Records late last year, is incredible and you should all listen to it immediately.
Ooh, and then, right. The amazing Garlands from Sweden are going to be playing their first ever gig outside of Sweden (and second ever gig) on the Friday of the London Popfest, at the Buffalo Bar. Eeeeee! The Garlands (who have just put out a split 7″ single on Atomic Beat Records) are the brain child of Roger Gunnarsson (Nixon, Free Loan Investments, The Happy Birthdays, Cloetta Paris) – and although Roger doesn’t like playing live these days, his brother and friends of his, along with singer Christin, have decided to form a live band to perform the songs. So the live version of The Garlands is a true Swedish indiepop supergroup, with members of Strawberry Fair, Action Biker, Le Futur Pompiste, Hormones in Abundance, Ring Snuten, Eisenhower and Kissing Mirrors. Woah!
Please remember that both those nights are for season ticket holders only and there are only a handful of season tickets left (less than 10!). Act fast! The tickets for our Saturday all-dayer at the 100 Club are selling really fast too so if you’re planning to go to that, please visit this page and get your ticket soon: http://www.wegottickets.com/f/1236
